Dear Carmelites - Here's a wonderful opportunity to learn more about a Carmelite Saint we don't often hear too much about: St. Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi.  The free lecture is this Thursday, Oct. 24th, from 5:00 - 6:30 PM (Eastern Daylight Time) and there is a "Livestream Zoom Link" (see link below) you can click on at that time in order to watch it live from the comfort of your own home.  Community Contacts: please forward this email to your members ASAP so they can "save the date/time" for what promises to be a very enlightening presentation by Fr. Nolan!

Although overshadowed by her Carmelite contemporaries St Teresa and St John of the Cross, St Mary Magdalene de’Pazzi (1566-1607) is an outstanding Carmelite mystic who is attracting renewed attention today. From a young age, she felt inwardly drawn by God, more than ‘a magnet draws iron.' Attracted to enter the Carmel at Florence because of the daily practise of receiving Holy Communion, Mary Magdalene found constant spiritual nourishment in the liturgical life of her community. Mary Magdalene’s life was marked by the Cross but her experiences of suffering helped her to guide and inspire others. An early inspiration in the life of St Thérèse of Lisieux, St Mary Magdalene de Pazzi awakens us, above all, to God’s love and the need to respond in kind.

Dear Carmelites,

Dr. Joanne Mosley is the author of the acclaimed "definitive" 2-volume biography "Elizabeth of the Trinity: The Unfolding of Her Message" (available for purchase on the ICS website). This new series is FREE; the first episode is 46 mins. Just click on the link below to the Center for Applied Carmelite Spirituality YouTube channel to watch. Please share this notice with all members of your community and Spiritual Assistants. Happy Feast Day of St. Joachina de Vedruna and St. Rita of Cascia everyone!

EPISODE 1: INTRODUCING ELIZABETH AND HER MESSAGE OF PRAYER

Watch Episode 1 of ‘THE ELIZABETH OF THE TRINITY SERIES’ of our Living Prayer Podcast now available for free on Centre for Applied Carmelite Spirituality YouTube Channel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzYBtfiFR4Q&ab_channel=CentreforAppliedCarmeliteSpirituality%28CACS%29

Fr. Liam Finnerty, OCD and Dr. Joanne Mosley will guide us through the series “The Elizabeth of the Trinity”.

In this first episode, we are introduced to St Elizabeth Catez (1880-1906) – a young woman with a rich and vibrant personality, and an accomplished musician – and to some of the main themes of her message on prayer which are helpful for all of us today: the indwelling of God in the soul, relationship with the three Persons of the Trinity, and the ways in which the great teachers of Carmel, Sts Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross, can help form our life of prayer, just as they did for Elizabeth.

Kindly anticipate the next episode, “HEAVEN IN FAITH” next week, May 29th.

Dear Community,

Sent on behalf of Diane McAveety:

Below is a link to Father Aloysius Deeney's beautiful Carmelite spiritual teachings on You Tube.  I've been listening to these over the past few months, and recognized the beautiful treasure God had entrusted to him for the glory of God.

May our Blessed Lord continue to make abundantly fruitful these beautiful messages of truth and love for the sanctification of Holy Mother Church, all her children, and thus the world.

In Christ the King,
Diane

While it is not required, it might be a useful reference you might return to time and again, if you want to dive deeper into “The Dark Night of the Soul”. Father Payne is an awesome communicator. (He has two doctorates.)

Here is the link to a college-level one-hour lecture by Fr. Payne, OCD on The Dark Night. Father Payne was our retreat master at least once in the past several years. )
