Fr. Aloysius Deeney, OCD

SEPTEMBER 2, 1948 - MARCH 14, 2023

Dear brothers and sisters of the OCDS,

We have just been informed that Fr. Aloysius Denney, OCD (September 2nd, 1948 – March 14th, 2024), has just passed away. He was the first general delegate for the OCDS and worked tirelessly in this ministry that the Order of Discalced Carmelites entrusted to him.

Father Aloysius once wrote: “Being a Carmelite is not a privilege, but a responsibility. The responsibility is to serve the Lord, which is carried out by attending to the needs of our brothers and sisters in the Church and in the world, serving our families and our communities”.

More about him will be published later. I just wanted to inform you so that we can be united in prayer for the eternal rest of a man who did so much for the OCDS.

Thank you Br. Aloysius for your love and example. Rest in peace!

Fraternally,

Fr. Ramiro Casale, OCD

Per Grace Joyce:

So sorry to advise you that our dear Sister in Carmel, Mary McGarvey, has passed. Her Son, Sean advised that Mary passed yesterday afternoon.  He will keep us posted on funeral details. I will share the obituary as soon as it is available.

Mary has been part of Carmel since our beginnings and has been a shining light to many and will be greatly missed. She now will be joined with our other Carmelite brothers and sisters in the heavenly court.

Rest In Peace Mary…

Grace.
